Dr. Nanavati offers expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, repair, and management for the complete rehabilitation of all conditions and injuries of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand.

After graduating Sum Cum Laude with a degree in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Nanavati attended the Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine in New Jersey. He then attended the distinguished orthopedic residency program at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After completing his orthopedic residency, Dr. Nanavati continued his advanced fellowship training in Hand and Wrist Surgery at the prestigious Philadephia Hand Center. Near the completion of his hand and wrist surgery fellowship, Dr. Nanavati was awarded a fellowship position in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the renowned Rothman Institute. Upon completion, Dr. Nanavati had become one of a handful of dual fellowship trained complete upper extremity orthopedic surgeons in the country.

At the conclusion of his advanced training, Dr. Nanavati served as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic and Upper Extremity Surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. During his academic tenure, Dr. Nanavati served as the co-director for the Shoulder and Elbow division and as the director of the upper extremity biomechanics research laboratory. In addition to providing expertise care to the patients of the Upstate New York region, he was actively involved in research, education, and the advancement of state-of-the-art techniques in the surgery of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand.

In 2009, Dr. Nanavati was privileged to join Eastern Orthopedics and Sports Medicine (EOSM) as their director of upper extremity surgery. He served as the specialist in shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand surgery for this innovative organization in the north and central Connecticut region. During his tenure with EOSM, Dr. Nanavati expanded his roles in research and education as a design, technical, and engineering consultant for several orthopedic companies. He continued his role in teaching through local, regional, and national programs.

In 2011, Dr. Nanavati was selected to be the Director and Chief of Upper Extremity Surgery at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Nanavati founded The Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, & Hand Center at Mercy Medical Center: a center of excellence and expertise dedicated to the treatment of both common and complex shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand conditions and injuries. In less than 5 years, Dr. Nanavati and his team had created a $6 million dollar organization that provided compassionate, efficient, economical, and state-of-the-art care to the Mid-Atlantic community.

In 2019, Dr. Nanavati was offered the unique opportunity to partner with Dr. C. Scott Humphrey at the Humphrey Shoulder Clinic to help develop a center of expertise, excellence, research, and education for shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand surgery in Idaho’s Treasure Valley.

With the formation of Idaho Shoulder to Hand, Dr. Nanavati is extremely proud to bring his unique medical practice that has stayed ahead of the curve and earned the respect of his peers, while remaining approachable to any patient who needs his skills.
